"Bloodborne PC Emulation Achieves Near-Stable 60 FPS"

Digital Foundry reviewer Thomas Morgan recently put *Bloodborne* to the test on the ShadPS4 emulator, analyzing the game's performance and the technical enhancements introduced by dedicated modders.

For his evaluation, Morgan utilized the ShadPS4 0.5.1 build developed by diegolix29, which is based on a custom branch created by raphaelthegreat. According to Morgan, he tested multiple builds, but this particular version delivered the most stable and impressive results on a system equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU.

To address visual glitches such as stretched or misplaced polygons, Morgan advised installing the Vertex Explosion Fix mod. While this mod disables the option to customize your character’s facial features at the start of the game, it effectively resolves rendering issues. Fortunately, no other major mods are necessary—most enhancements are already integrated into the emulator itself. These include a built-in menu that allows players to adjust settings like enabling 60 fps, boosting resolution up to 4K, or turning off chromatic aberration.

Although the game generally runs at a smooth 60 fps, Morgan noted occasional stutters during gameplay. He also experimented with higher resolutions—1440p and 1800p—and observed improved visual clarity. However, these settings led to performance dips and frequent crashes. Based on his findings, Morgan suggests running the game at 1080p or 1152p for optimal stability, similar to its native PS4 output.

Morgan concluded that the fact that PS4 emulation is even possible represents a remarkable milestone achieved by the ShadPS4 development team. While *Bloodborne* performs well overall on the emulator, it still exhibits some minor technical hiccups. Nevertheless, the progress made so far is nothing short of impressive.
