For those new to the series, Black Torch, crafted by Tsuyoshi Yakaki, ran in Jump SQ. and Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2018. Here’s the official synopsis of the forthcoming anime to get you up to speed.

“A new chapter of ninja warfare unfolds,” the synopsis declares. “Trained by his grandfather in the ancient shinobi arts, Jiro, a descendant of a storied ninja lineage, possesses a unique ability to communicate with animals. His life takes a dramatic turn after a fateful forest encounter with an injured black cat named Rago, whose ordinary appearance belies its true nature...

“Rago is no mere feline but a legendary mononoke, the Black Star of Doom. As dark spirits lurk, eager to harness Rago’s immense powers, the covert Bureau of Espionage stands ready to confront them. Yet, motives surrounding Rago’s abilities vary, and Jiro, alongside his mononoke ally, braces for an epic shinobi showdown against these spectral forces.”
