Rumor: Switch 2 Leak Reveals Possible Joy-Con Images
Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Leak: A Closer Look at the Next-Gen Controller
Recent online leaks suggest we're getting a clearer picture of the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers. While the Switch continues its strong run with 2025 game releases, speculation about its successor is intensifying, especially with Nintendo's confirmed announcement before the end of their 2024 fiscal year. Rumors surrounding the Switch 2's March 2025 launch date and its specifications are rampant, fueled by third-party developers and insiders. These leaks even detail the Joy-Con's design and functionality.
New images, surfacing on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit and subsequently shared across social media, offer the most detailed view yet of the Switch 2 Joy-Cons. Shared by user SwordfishAgile3472, allegedly sourced from a Chinese social network, the photos showcase the back and side of a left Joy-Con. These images seemingly confirm a long-standing rumor: a magnetic connection system. Unlike the Switch's rail-based design, the Switch 2 Joy-Cons appear to utilize magnets for attachment.
The leaked images also reveal a color scheme reminiscent of the original Switch, primarily black with blue accents. However, unlike the original's predominantly blue Joy-Con, the leaked images show a mostly black controller with a blue accent on the rail. Furthermore, the photos provide a glimpse at the button layout, showing noticeably larger "SL" and "SR" buttons, and a third, unlabeled button on the back. This additional button is speculated to be a release mechanism for the magnetic connection.
This Joy-Con design aligns with other recent leaks and mockups of the Switch 2 console. While these leaks offer compelling evidence, official confirmation from Nintendo remains pending. The anticipation is palpable as gamers eagerly await the official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2.
