Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's Patch 4.0 nerfs are being rolled back! Following significant player backlash, developer Saber Interactive is releasing hotfix 4.1 on October 24th, reverting many of the controversial changes. The studio also announced plans for public test servers in early 2025.

Community Response & Developer Response

Patch 4.0, released the previous week, introduced nerfs that frustrated many players, leading to negative reviews on Steam. Saber Interactive acknowledged the criticism, stating that their goal was to increase enemy numbers, not necessarily their health, to increase difficulty. However, this inadvertently made lower difficulties too challenging. Director Dmitriy Grigorenko stated that the "most pressing" balance changes from Patch 4.0 will be reversed.

Hotfix 4.1 Changes

Hotfix 4.1 includes several key changes:

  • Enemy Spawns: Extremis enemy spawn rates are being reduced to pre-Patch 4.0 levels on Minimal, Average, and Substantial difficulties, and significantly reduced on Ruthless.
  • Player Armor: A 10% armor increase on Ruthless difficulty.
  • Bot Buff: Bots will deal 30% more damage to bosses.
  • Bolt Weapon Buffs: Significant damage increases across the board for all Bolt weapons (specific percentages listed below).

Bolt Weapon Damage Increases (Hotfix 4.1):

  • Auto Bolt Rifle: +20%
  • Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Heavy Bolt Rifle: +15%
  • Stalker Bolt Rifle: +10%
  • Marksman Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Instigator Bolt Carbine: +10%
  • Bolt Sniper Rifle: +12.5%
  • Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Occulus Bolt Carbine: +15%
  • Heavy Bolter: +5% (x2)

Saber Interactive will continue monitoring player feedback after the release of Patch 4.1 to ensure the "Lethal" difficulty remains appropriately challenging. The introduction of public test servers in 2025 aims to prevent similar issues in the future.
