Marvel Rivals Comments on 30 FPS Bug
Marvel Rivals Addresses Low FPS Damage Issue Affecting Certain Heroes
Players of Marvel Rivals experiencing reduced damage output at lower FPS settings (particularly 30 FPS) can expect a resolution soon. The development team has acknowledged a bug impacting damage calculations for specific heroes, including Dr. Strange and Wolverine, when the game runs at lower frame rates.
This issue, affecting heroes like Magik, Star-Lord, and Venom, as well as those previously mentioned, manifests as decreased damage on some or all attacks at lower FPS. The problem stems from the game's client-side prediction mechanism, a technique designed to minimize perceived lag. However, in this instance, it's causing discrepancies in damage calculations.
While the exact cause is still under investigation, the developers are actively working on a fix. The upcoming Season 1 launch, scheduled for January 11th, is expected to include a solution or significant improvement. Community Manager James confirmed the issue on the official Discord server, highlighting Wolverine's Feral Leap and Savage Claw abilities as examples where the reduced damage is particularly noticeable against stationary targets. Even if Season 1 doesn't fully resolve the problem, a subsequent update is planned to address any remaining issues.
Despite early concerns about hero balance, Marvel Rivals has enjoyed considerable success since its December 2025 launch, boasting an 80% player approval rating on Steam based on over 132,000 reviews. The ongoing efforts to address the FPS-related damage bug demonstrate the developers' commitment to providing a balanced and enjoyable gameplay experience for all players, regardless of their hardware capabilities.
