Developer Announces Major Tweaks to REPO's Overcharge and Difficulty Scaling
Get ready for some exciting updates in REPO as the developers are set to fine-tune the game's difficulty scaling with fresh mechanics introduced every 10 levels. Dive deeper into the upcoming changes to the Overcharge mechanic and find out what the developers have been working on during the open beta.
REPO Development Updates
Overcharge Overhaul
During REPO's recent open beta, the game received valuable feedback from players, particularly regarding the Overcharge mechanic. Developer Semiwork has taken this feedback to heart.Overcharge empowers players to counter their foes by picking them up and hurling them onto hard surfaces or away from their squad. However, this ability isn't without its limits; an overcharge meter must be managed carefully. If it fills up, the player will explode, adding a strategic element to the gameplay.
Originally, Overcharge was available right from the start, but the developers have decided to unlock it at level 10. They also plan to introduce new mechanics that ramp up the difficulty every 10 levels (at levels 20, 30, and beyond), with Overcharge marking the beginning of these challenging increments.
These new mechanics won't just be about increasing difficulty; they'll also be woven into the game's lore. Semiwork's team has promised that these changes will have a meaningful impact on the game's story, saying, "So this system will be also tied to lore. It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future."
Developers Joined Open Beta Matchmaking
During the open beta, Semiwork's developers took an active role in the community by joining random matches incognito. This allowed them to gather firsthand insights and engage with players about potential improvements. Pontus Sundstrom, a developer from Semiwork, expressed his delight in seeing players enjoy the new additions to the game.
He shared, "And I've also actually played with a lot of you guys - incognito, in secret, through the random matchmaking in the servers." Sundstrom further noted, "And I've been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that."
With the wealth of feedback obtained during the open beta, Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO. Players can anticipate more exciting updates as the developers have pledged to keep the community informed.
