Upgrade Guide: Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
The Staff of Ice stands out as a unique Wonder Weapon within the *Call of Duty* series. While its initial form might not impress, the upgraded version becomes essential for tackling high rounds and completing main quest Easter eggs in *Black Ops 6* Zombies. Here's a detailed guide on how to upgrade the Staff of Ice in *Black Ops 6* Zombies.
Prerequisites for Upgrading the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Before you can upgrade the Staff of Ice on The Tomb map in *Black Ops 6* Zombies, you need to meet two major prerequisites. Firstly, you must obtain the Staff of Ice itself. This Wonder Weapon can either be acquired from the Mystery Box or built by collecting its three parts.
Secondly, many of the steps for upgrading the Staff of Ice are centered around the Dark Aether Nexus. To progress with the upgrade quest, it's crucial to open the Door to Nowhere and gain access to the Dark Aether as quickly as possible.
How To Upgrade the Staff of Ice in Black Ops 6 Zombies
Step 1: Freeze Dark Aether Crystals
The first step in upgrading the Staff of Ice involves freezing the Dark Aether Crystals within the Dark Aether lanterns. These lanterns, marked by a black frame and glowing purple fire, are located in the underground sections of The Tomb.
You must use the Staff of Ice to freeze three Dark Aether Crystals in quick succession. For optimal results, equip perks like Stamin-Up and/or PHD Flopper with the Tribologist Minor Augment, as these significantly boost your movement speed.
The route you take and the manipulation of the Dark Aether lantern spawns are key. It's advisable to wait a few rounds to optimize the locations and bring them closer together. Start at the tomb area, shoot the crystal there, then proceed to the Shrine of the Hierophants, and finally, the lantern at the entrance to the Subterranean Temple. Ensure one of the lanterns shown above is active, as the one near Quick Revive is too distant to reach in time. Upon successful completion, you'll hear a quote from Archibald and can then proceed to the Dark Aether Nexus.
Step 2: Floating Rocks in the Dark Aether Nexus
After freezing the crystals, search for three floating rocks in the Dark Aether Nexus sky, each marked with a glowing purple Rune bearing a specific symbol. These symbols may vary each game, so make sure to note them down.
Aim and shoot each Rune with your Staff of Ice. A successful hit will cause the rock to descend, making the Rune easier to spot. Consider using a sniper rifle or a weapon with a high-zoom scope to better identify the symbols. The order in which you shoot the rocks doesn't matter, as long as you hit all three.
Step 3: Rune Symbols Puzzle
Once you've completed the second step, look for a stone wall replacing one of the portals back to the main map in the Dark Aether Nexus. Return to the corresponding area on the main map, where you'll find a wall with several glowing Runic icons. Identify and shoot the three symbols that match those from the floating rocks.
Note that the portal will open regardless of the symbols you shoot, but incorrect symbols will result in you spawning in the wrong location and falling from mid-air within the Dark Aether Nexus. Multiple failures might require you to wait a round or two before the stone wall reappears.
If you shoot the correct symbols, you'll find yourself on a floating rock in the air when you enter the Dark Aether Nexus. Interact with the purple orb in front of you.
Step 4: Soul Chest Orb Escort
After interacting with the orb, it will start moving. Follow it and kill zombies nearby to fuel its movement with a purple trail flowing from the zombies into the orb. Continue this aggressive playstyle to guide the orb to the central structure within the Dark Aether Nexus. Once the orb settles, interact with the small purple portal that appears, and your Staff of Ice will be upgraded to Ull's Arrow.
What Does the Upgraded Ice Staff Do in Black Ops 6 Zombies? Answered
The upgraded Staff of Ice, now known as Ull's Arrow, mirrors the capabilities of its classic counterpart from the Origins map in *Black Ops 2* and *3*. It features a potent charge attack that delivers high area-of-effect damage and an alternate fire mode that can revive downed teammates.
And that's how you upgrade the Staff of Ice in *Black Ops 6* Zombies.
*Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
