Navigating STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl involves crucial decisions impacting gameplay. The mission preceding "Just Like the Good Old Days" varies based on your choice in "Wishful Thinking." This main mission unlocks after completing either "To the Last Drop of Blood" or "Law and Order," both culminating in an escape from the SIRCAA.

Talk to Professor Lodochka at Wild Island

Proceed to the Wild Island mission marker to locate Professor Lodochka at Quite's Camp. Upon arrival, prioritize eliminating nearby mercenaries, conveniently marked on your map. These enemies won't be using cover tactics.

Equip yourself well; this isn't the only encounter. After eliminating the mercenaries, a new marker will direct you to Lodochka. An optional objective, "Activate the Ventilation System," will become available.

Activate the Ventilation System

Consult your map for the fuse location. After retrieving it, a new marker will appear north, indicating the engineering rooms. Be prepared for an invisible enemy within.

Enter the shelter, navigate the passageways to the engine room, and use the fuse to restore power to the ventilation system. This optional objective, while not offering unique rewards, simplifies the subsequent mission stages.

Find the Signal Source

Consider upgrading your weaponry before proceeding, as the challenge increases. Locate the cave entrance near the water. Navigate westward through the caverns, descending and maneuvering past obstacles. Use a broken pipe to reach higher cave levels.

Follow the marker to a large cone-shaped spire. The emitter is located at the marked point beside it. An invisible enemy awaits on your return journey. Finally, report back to Professor Lodochka to complete the mission and unlock "Hornet's Nest."
