Silent Hill f Sells 1 Million Copies in 24 Hours
Silent Hill f, the newest mainline (though standalone) installment in Konami's long-running horror franchise, has surpassed 1 million copies sold across physical and digital platforms in just its first day.
Konami shared the news in a press release and on the Japanese Silent Hill X/Twitter account, thanking "everyone who played" for pushing shipped copies past the 1 million mark mere days after its September 25 launch.
"This milestone solidifies the series' position as a defining horror brand that still connects with players seeking a deeply unsettling psychological horror journey," Konami stated. "Through Silent Hill f, players immerse themselves in a chilling tale from Ryukishi07, rooted in a 'beautiful yet horrifying' artistic vision."
This is encouraging news for fans of the horror series, demonstrating that the success of the Silent Hill 2 Remake—which also sold 1 million copies quickly but needed until January to exceed 2 million sales—was not an isolated event for Konami.
Set in 1960s Japan, Silent Hill f follows teenager Hinako Shimizu as she navigates intense pressures from friends, family, and society. IGN's Silent Hill f review scored it 7/10, stating: "Silent Hill f introduces a compelling new setting and a grippingly dark narrative, although its melee-centered combat tries something ambitious that doesn't fully succeed."
Modders have already begun enhancing Silent Hill f. Some focus on optimizing engine performance, adding ray tracing, or improving localization and HUD removal, while others introduce cheats, give Hinako a Shibito-inspired redesign, or remove the game's signature fog.
For clarity, Silent Hill f is not a sequel to any previous Silent Hill games, so newcomers can easily jump in. It offers a self-contained story "separate from the series." As for whether it's a soulslike—a topic long debated within the Silent Hill community—Konami recently told IGN it is not, expressing some frustration over the continual discussion.
