Indie Game Breaks Barriers with Milestone Download and Global Success
Indus, the Indian-made battle royale shooter, has achieved a significant milestone: over five million Android downloads and over 100,000 iOS downloads within just two months of its launch. This success follows a Google Play Award win ("Best Made in India Game 2024") and a successful international playtest in Manila.
This surge in popularity is particularly noteworthy given SuperGaming's ambitious goal of establishing Indus as a leading force in Indian gaming, surpassing competitors like FAU-G: Domination. The Manila playtest at the YGG Play Summit provided valuable feedback and exposure, allowing prominent local esports players to experience the game firsthand.
SuperGaming's commitment to Indus extends beyond the game itself. The recently launched Clutch India Movement, a major push into the esports arena, features the Indus International Tournament. Running from October 2024 to February 2025, this tournament boasts a substantial INR 2.5 crore (approximately $31,000 USD) prize pool.
Impressive Growth, Continued Potential
While the five million downloads are impressive, they fall slightly short of the initial ten million pre-registrations. However, it's important to remember that pre-registrations rarely translate directly into downloads. The relatively low iOS download numbers also suggest a need for further engagement with that segment of the Indian gaming market.
Despite this, SuperGaming's proactive approach—including early international playtests and a dedicated esports tournament—demonstrates significant ambition for Indus's future growth.
