Freedom Wars Remastered: Guide to All Weapon Types

In *Freedom Wars Remastered*, players have the freedom to equip two weapons of their choice before embarking on an Operation, allowing you to tailor your character's playstyle to your liking. With six distinct weapon types at your disposal, the combinations are nearly endless, ensuring a personalized combat experience. Each weapon type boasts unique features, including special effects when charged, and can be customized to fit your strategy. Whether you prefer the rapid strikes of melee combat or the long-range precision of firearms, *Freedom Wars Remastered* has you covered.

Every Weapon Type In Freedom Wars Remastered

You can acquire new weapons by successfully completing operations or by making purchases at the Zakka store in The Warren. While you can't select the weapons for your Comrades, you have full control over your Accessory's equipment. Switching weapons frequently or sticking to the same ones comes with no penalties or benefits, giving you the flexibility to adapt your strategy on the fly. Here's a detailed look at the six weapon types and their unique traits:

Weapon TypeTraits
Light Melee
  • Quick attacks ideal for fast-paced playstyles and targeting single enemies.
  • Can sever Abductor limbs without the need for a Flare Knife.
Heavy Melee
  • Wide arcing attacks that deliver significant damage.
  • Well-placed strikes can hit multiple Abductor limbs, multiplying damage as if striking multiple times.
  • Charged attacks can launch you into the air at the end of a combo.
  • Slightly reduces your movement speed when equipped.
Polearm
  • Most attacks involve charging through enemies, helping you evade incoming attacks.
  • Charged attacks allow you to throw the polearm, dealing massive damage from a safe distance.
Assault Weapons
  • High total ammo capacity, perfect for gun-focused builds.
  • Can be fired while grappled with your Thorne, offering better angles or safe-distance shooting.
Portable Artillery
  • High single-shot damage but with a low overall ammo capacity.
  • Explosive AOE shots capable of hitting multiple limbs for increased damage.
  • Reduces your movement speed when equipped.
Autocannons
  • High rate of fire with substantial ammo capacity and magazine size.
  • Individual shots may not deal much damage, but the rapid firing compensates for this.
  • Reduces your movement speed when equipped.

It's worth noting that, unlike the player, your Accessory does not need to worry about ammo when using gun weapons, adding another layer of strategic depth to your gameplay.
