Assassin's Creed Shadows Postponed Indefinitely
Assassin's Creed Shadows' March 2025 Release Date Confirmed
Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14, 2025 launch, this marks a five-week postponement. The publisher cites the need for additional refinement and polishing, incorporating player feedback as a key driver for the delay.
The game's journey to release has been marked by two significant delays. The first, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15, 2024 to February 14, 2025. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified reasons described as being "in the best interest of the game," subsequent reports suggested concerns regarding historical and cultural accuracy within the game's development.
This second delay, however, directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, stated that Ubisoft is dedicated to delivering a high-quality and immersive experience shaped by ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays, according to Coté, provide crucial time for refining and polishing the final product.

Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the game's first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced. The shorter timeframe may mitigate potential player backlash compared to the previous three-month postponement.
This latest delay may also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player focus and address recent financial setbacks. Prioritizing player feedback through this delay could be a strategic move aligned with this initiative.
