PS5 Pro Pricing Sparks Global Controversy
International Price Differences Raise Eyebrows
The PS5 Pro's pricing announcement has generated considerable buzz on social media, particularly on X (formerly Twitter). The $700 US price point is causing considerable discussion, but the cost is even higher for gamers in Japan and Europe.
Japanese consumers will pay 119,980 yen (approximately $847 USD), while the European price is set at $799.99, and £699.99 in the UK. These prices significantly exceed the equivalent of $700 based on current exchange rates (approximately 100,000 yen in Japan, £537 in the UK, and €635 in Europe).
This pricing disparity has prompted many to consider purchasing the PS5 Pro in the US for import, to take advantage of the lower cost. While pre-order details remain unannounced, the PS5 Pro is expected to be available through PlayStation Direct, as well as major retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, and GameStop.
