Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Boosted with New Content
Team Ninja has unleashed a significant update for Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, boosting it to version 1.0.7.0 and introducing highly anticipated features like New Game Plus and Photo Mode.
This patch, promised in January to address community feedback, is now live on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store).
New Game Plus allows players to restart the game on any previously completed difficulty level, retaining acquired weapons and Ninpo. However, all items will revert to level 1, and progression to higher difficulties isn't immediately available via this mode.
A welcome quality-of-life improvement lets players hide their back-mounted projectile weapon. This toggle is accessible within the Options menu under Game Settings.
Balance adjustments include enemy HP reductions in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy counts in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage buff to some of Ayane's attacks.
Numerous bug fixes are also included, addressing high-performance PC issues, game-breaking glitches in specific chapters, and more. The complete patch notes are detailed below.
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, a surprise January release during the Xbox Developer Direct, is a revamped version of the classic action title, built using Unreal Engine 5. This engine upgrade enhances visuals, introduces new playable characters, and improves combat mechanics.
IGN's 8/10 review stated: "While fewer, but tougher enemies, might mean Ninja Gaiden 2 Black isn't perfectly definitive, it's a stunning improvement over Sigma 2, remaining an excellent action game overall."
