Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025

Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several publishers have announced the return of their flagship titles for the 2025 edition. Hot on the heels of Free Fire's confirmation, Moonton has officially announced that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) will also be featured.

The 2024 Esports World Cup showcased two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These tournaments brought together teams from various regions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (ending their 25-game winning streak) to claim the Women's Invitational title.

A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?

Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear set to return in 2025. However, a noticeable trend is the absence of truly major championships. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might lead some to perceive the Esports World Cup as a secondary event rather than a primary competition.

This has a double-edged effect. It's positive in that the EWC avoids overshadowing established leagues, but negative in that it risks being seen as less significant than other major tournaments.

Regardless, fans of the participating games will undoubtedly welcome the return of so many familiar titles to this prestigious tournament. For those intrigued by MLBB, be sure to check out our tier list of the game's top characters!
