Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Title?

Speculation is swirling that Gotham Knights could be among the third-party titles launching on the Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume, as highlighted by YouTuber Doctre81 on January 5th, 2025.

The resume, belonging to a developer with a history at QLOC (2018-2023), lists several notable titles including Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. However, the inclusion of Gotham Knights, specified as being developed for two unreleased platforms, has sparked significant interest.

While one platform might be the original Nintendo Switch (due to a previous, now-removed ESRB rating), the game's performance challenges on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cast doubt on this possibility. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

It's crucial to remember that this is purely speculative; neither Warner Bros. Games nor Nintendo have made any official announcements. However, with the Nintendo Switch 2 being the only highly anticipated, unreleased console currently on the horizon, the possibility remains compelling.

Past Hints and the Switch 2's Backward Compatibility

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights briefly received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation and anticipation of a Nintendo Direct reveal. This rating has since been removed.

While the original Switch release never materialized, the past ESRB rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, reignites the possibility of a Switch 2 launch.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa's May 7th, 2024, Twitter announcement promised further information on the Switch's successor "within this fiscal year" (ending March 2025). He later confirmed backward compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
