Freedom Wars Remastered transports players into a gripping dystopian future where they, as Sinners, battle monstrous Abductors to safeguard humanity. A crucial aspect of the game is the ability to upgrade weapons and accessories, which significantly boosts combat prowess. Upgrading involves enhancing base stats and integrating modules for various enhancements, and it's accessible early in the game, eliminating reliance on mission rewards or enemy drops. This guide will walk you through the process of upgrading weapons and accessories in Freedom Wars Remastered.

How To Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered

To begin upgrading your weapons in Freedom Wars Remastered, you must advance through the main story until you achieve Level 002 Code Clearance. At this point, as a CODE 2 Sinner, you'll unlock the Facility Management Function through the Personal Responsibility Portal. Head to the Weapon Development Facility to manage and upgrade your arsenal.

Upgrading requires specific resources and Entitlement Points, though you can lessen the cost by collaborating with a Citizen. Different Citizens offer varying reduction rates depending on their Facility Manager Aptitude. While it might seem complex at first, the system becomes intuitive as you use it.

Before proceeding with an upgrade, you'll be shown a preview of the stat changes. The Weapon Development Facility also enables you to add Elements and tinker with Modules and Module Slots. To elevate a weapon to a higher Grade, you need to buy the necessary permit from the Claim Entitlement tab on the Window of Liberty.

Should You Upgrade Weapons In Freedom Wars Remastered?

In the early stages of the main story, missions typically don't yield high-Grade weapons. While you can buy weapons and combat items from Zakka in The Warren, these are mostly limited to Grade Level 1. This makes upgrading almost indispensable. A CODE 3 Exam requires obtaining higher Grade Development Facility Permits, which allow you to enhance any weapon you prefer and keep it, while donating lower-Grade weapons found during missions can reduce your sentence and earn additional Entitlement Points.

Moreover, the first upgrade in the Weapon Development Facility unlocks the "In Search of the Strongest Weapon" trophy/achievement, with more achievements linked to the upgrading system, making it particularly attractive for trophy hunters. The significant damage difference between weapons of different Grades further motivates players to invest time in upgrading their gear.

Later in the game, you'll also unlock the Ability Development Facility within Facility Management, offering additional ways to enhance your gameplay experience.
