The Yellow Orb is located in a place called Merchantburg, although it's labeled as ??? in the game. This town's name is actually derived from the merchant you hire and leave behind to establish it. If you name your merchant Christopher, for example, the town will be known as Christopherburg. To acquire the Yellow Orb, you'll need to help establish and develop this village.
Where to Find Merchantburg ??? In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
After obtaining the Black Pepper for the King of Portoga and acquiring your Ship, you'll be able to locate Merchantburg. With quest markers enabled, you'll find the Merchantburg marker in the northeast corner of the map. You can sail west from the coast to reach the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.
When Should I Visit Merchantburg?
You can visit and establish Merchantburg as soon as you get the ship, and it's highly recommended to do so early. The town requires time to grow before you can obtain the Yellow Orb. By establishing it early, you can collect other orbs while waiting for Merchantburg to develop, returning as needed.
How to Get the Yellow Orb in Dragon Quest 3 Remake
### How to Establish Merchantburg in Dragon Quest 3 Remake:
Before heading to Merchantburg (???), visit PALS in Aliahan to hire a new Merchant. Travel directly to the town to avoid unnecessary combat, as your new party member will be vulnerable.
Upon arriving at Merchantburg, enter the only available structure. Inside, you'll meet an old man who wants to start a new town but needs a Merchant to do so. Offer your new Merchant, who will then leave the party to establish the town, officially naming it.
Returning to Merchantburg:
After establishing the town, continue on your quest to obtain the Purple Orb from Orochi's Lair and the Blue Orb from Gaia's Navel. As you progress, you'll receive notifications to return to Merchantburg.
Merchantburg will undergo five stages of growth. Each time you return, the town will be larger, culminating in the construction of a large club. On your fourth visit, mention your Merchant's name to the security guard outside the cabaret; they'll attempt to overcharge you for entry.
During this visit, you'll notice that your Merchant is becoming unpopular among the townsfolk, signaling the nearing end of their reign and the imminent availability of the Yellow Orb.
How to Get the Yellow Orb:
On your fifth and final visit, come at night. You'll find that the Merchant is no longer in their home. Inside, you'll discover that the town has revolted, imprisoning the Merchant in a jail cell south of their home.
Enter the jail cell and speak with the Merchant, who will explain the situation and reveal the location of the Yellow Orb. After the conversation, return to the Merchant's home. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa; interact with the ground there to uncover the Yellow Orb.
For most players, the Yellow Orb will likely be the second-to-last orb obtained. Other orbs can be found at the Pirates' Den (Red Orb), Theddon (Green Orb), and the Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine (Silver Orb).
