CES 2025 Showcases Handheld Gaming Advancements and New Accessories
CES 2025 featured exciting new consoles and accessories, highlighting the continued strength of the handheld gaming market. A purported Nintendo Switch 2 prototype was also reportedly showcased privately, though Nintendo remains silent on the matter.
Sony's Midnight Black PS5 Accessory Expansion

Lenovo Legion Go S: SteamOS on a Handheld
Lenovo unveiled the Legion Go S, the world's first officially licensed SteamOS handheld. Announced January 7th, 2025, this device boasts an 8-inch VRR1-supported screen, ergonomic TrueStrike controllers with adjustable triggers and hall-effect joysticks, and seamless cloud save and remote play functionality with PCs.
The Legion Go S provides full access to the Steam ecosystem, including your library, cloud saves, chat, and game recording. System updates are handled directly through SteamOS.
The SteamOS version launches in May 2025 at $499.99 USD, while a Windows version will be available earlier in January 2025, starting at $729.99 USD. Valve also announced plans to expand SteamOS support to other handheld devices.
Beyond the Headliners
Other notable announcements included Nvidia's RTX 50-series graphics cards and Acer's eco-friendly Aspire Vero 16 laptop. The continued success of the Nintendo Switch fueled speculation regarding a Switch 2, with rumors of a private showcase at CES 2025, although official confirmation is still pending.
