Avowed Multiplayer: The Answer Revealed

Author : Skylar Apr 11,2025

Avowed has been dubbed Obsidian Entertainment's Skyrim, but it's more akin to a fantasy rendition of their The Outer Worlds. A key question many fans have is whether Avowed supports multiplayer. Let's dive into the details.

Does Avowed Support Multiplayer Co-op or PvP?

Avowed does not support multiplayer, whether in co-op or player versus player mode. You'll embark on your journey through this fantasy world with the help of companions, but they will all be NPCs, similar to The Outer Worlds. The enemies you'll encounter are also exclusively AI-controlled. There's no feature akin to Sniper Elite's invasion mode where other players can disrupt your adventure. In short, Avowed offers no multiplayer elements—no PvP, no invasion mode, no co-op, nothing of the sort. However, it wasn't always intended to be this way.

What Happened to Avowed’s Planned Multiplayer?

If you recall Avowed being advertised with co-op features, you're not experiencing the Mandela Effect. Obsidian Entertainment did initially plan to include co-op in the game. However, they later decided to abandon this feature, feeling they were "too focused on co-op" (via Dexerto). Co-op was initially pitched as a selling point to attract investors. While it's unclear how investors reacted to this change, Avowed arguably doesn't suffer from the lack of co-op.

Is There an Avowed Co-Op Mod?

As of now, no one has publicly announced plans for an Avowed co-op PC mod. While it's possible that such a mod could emerge in the future, creating one would be a significant undertaking. For comparison, Skyrim received a co-op mod years after its release. Obsidian has confirmed they have no plans to add co-op to Avowed post-launch.
