If you were with us in April of last year, you may remember us mentioning a quirky little strategy RPG called Isekai Dispatcher. Now, the developers behind that intriguing, retro take on the 'trapped-in-another-world' genre have shifted gears to bring us something much calmer and cuter: Ash & Snow, a kitten-themed match-three game set to launch on mobile devices on May 15th.

As with most match-three games, Ash & Snow follows a familiar formula. You'll be matching up colored blocks, striving to clear as many as possible to boost your score. Along the way, you'll encounter power-ups that help you clear the board faster and rack up even more points. It's a tried-and-true gameplay mechanic that fans of the genre will feel right at home with.

The real stars of the show, however, are the titular mascots: Ash & Snow. These adorable felines will be your constant companions as you tackle the puzzles, appearing either on the main screen or in the top left corner, keeping a watchful eye on your progress (or should we say, play?).

With its charming kitten theme, Ash & Snow is poised to be a competently-made addition to the match-three genre, especially given its origins from an established developer. While the market is saturated with match-three puzzlers that often try to reinvent the wheel with unique twists, the presence of two lovable kittens might just be the quaint yet effective hook that sets this game apart. After all, in the world of mobile gaming, cats (and, more recently, capybaras) have proven to be a surefire way to capture players' hearts and boost sales.
