Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Player Creates Incredible Super Mario Galaxy-Inspired Video

A recent online video transforms Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom into a Super Mario Galaxy experience. Released in May 2023, Tears of the Kingdom, the sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, is the latest mainline entry in the acclaimed Zelda series. Often compared to other Nintendo hits like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and various Super Mario titles, this clever video montage highlights unexpected similarities.

A gamer, under the Reddit username Ultrababouin, created a video titled "Super Zelda Galaxy," showcasing the parallels between Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Galaxy (2007). The edit cleverly recreates scenes from the Wii classic, sparking nostalgia among viewers. One notable example is the reimagining of Super Mario Galaxy's iconic opening sequence, featuring Mario's awakening and encounter with a Luma.

Ultrababouin shared their creation on the Hyrule Engineering subreddit, a community dedicated to Tears of the Kingdom in-game creations. The month-long project was an entry in June's design contest. Ultrababouin is a seasoned contributor, having previously designed a Tears of the Kingdom version of the Master Cycle Zero (from Breath of the Wild) and earning "Engineer of the Month" honors in December and February.

The Master Cycle Zero, a horse-shaped motorcycle from Breath of the Wild, is absent in Tears of the Kingdom. However, the newer game's innovative build system allows for vehicle construction, leading to remarkable creations. Hyrule Engineering member ryt1314059, for instance, built a functioning aircraft carrier capable of launching a bomber.

The next Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom, is slated for release on September 26th. A departure from the series norm, this installment will feature Princess Zelda as the protagonist, instead of Link.
