Yakuza fans pick wild merch: cult attire, traffic cones

Marking its 20th anniversary milestone, Yakuza/Like a Dragon's developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is letting fans decide which iconic items should become official merchandise. The surreal selection includes cult robes, traffic cones, golden underwear, and other bizarre memorabilia from the franchise.
As reported by Automaton, enthusiasts can choose from an extensive catalog of 100 potential products, with RGG Studio committing to produce the top two most popular choices within two years. Though currently limited to Japanese audiences, voting remains open on the studio's official website.
While some options represent conventional merch like anniversary hoodies or themed stationery, others dive deep into the series' famously eccentric universe, translating even more outrageously into real-world products.
Standout choices feature the notorious Munan Chohept Onast cult leader attire from Yakuza 0, Majima's oversized traffic cone prop from Yakuza Kiwami's infamous stalking sequences, and the comically labeled "Puffy Gold Pants."
The ballot also includes Majima's shack sake from Infinite Wealth, Akiyama's signature gold watch, Kiryu's fountain pen from Yakuza 6's emotional scenes, Kashiwagi's karaoke tambourine from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Kiryu's wrestling mask from Yakuza 3, Saejima's prison uniform from Yakuza 4, among countless other eccentric relics.
The franchise will commemorate its anniversary year with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's February 2025 release. While RGG Studio previously celebrated their 10th anniversary with the beloved Yakuza 0 prequel, current plans for additional celebratory projects remain unannounced.
Considering RGG Studio's remarkable development speed - having released nine titles across the Yakuza/Judgment and Monkey Ball franchises in just five years - multiple 2025 releases shouldn't be ruled out.
