Shift Up, the developer behind Stellar Blade, has achieved record-breaking financial success with its recent action RPG. The PlayStation 5 exclusive generated an impressive $43 million in royalties, while projections indicate the upcoming PC version will surpass the console's sales performance.

According to Game World Observer's analysis of Shift Up's 2024 financial report, the studio reported total revenues reaching $151.4 million – marking a substantial 30.4% year-over-year increase. Notably, Stellar Blade's performance contributed $43.2 million through royalty payments alone.

Sustained Growth Expected Through Multiple Platforms

The studio anticipates continued momentum, particularly predicting stronger PC sales compared to the PlayStation 5 version, especially within Asian gaming markets. Alongside Stellar Blade's multiplatform expansion, Shift Up announced plans to unveil its new project, codenamed Project Witches, during the first half of 2025. This upcoming title appears distinct from the anticipated Stellar Blade sequel.

Project Witches entered public awareness shortly after Stellar Blade's PlayStation 5 debut, preceding significant fan demand for franchise continuation. However, Shift Up has confirmed active consideration of future installments within the Stellar Blade universe.

A Critical and Commercial Success Story

Stellar Blade thrusts players into the role of protagonist Eve, engaging in high-speed action RPG combat against alien invaders threatening Earth's survival. While IGN's review awarded the title a respectable 7/10 score, praising core combat mechanics but criticizing narrative elements and character development, the game achieved remarkable commercial success by surpassing one million sales shortly after launch.
