Excellent news for Sam Fisher enthusiasts: Ubisoft has officially confirmed it hasn't forgotten about Splinter Cell by introducing a full set of Steam Achievements for 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

While the last substantial news regarding the Splinter Cell Remake arrived in 2022—when IGN met with Ubisoft Toronto developers to explore the game’s core design philosophy—the developer quietly updated the 12-year-old Blacklist’s achievement list on Steam overnight.

Ubisoft announced: "Agents, we’re excited to confirm that Steam Achievements are now live for Splinter Cell: Blacklist!"

All achievements will be "retroactively awarded for accomplishments you've already completed in-game." To trigger the sync, however, you must launch the game at least once. "Once your progress syncs, previously unlocked Ubisoft Connect achievements will automatically appear on Steam," the team clarified.

Along with retroactively awarding eligible accomplishments, Ubisoft deliberately omitted the 19 additional online achievements available on console versions. This ensures that dedicated players can still fully complete the game on Steam.

The beloved stealth-action franchise is making a cautious return with a ground-up remake of the original classic, Splinter Cell Remake. Details remain sparse, but we do know the new version is being developed from scratch using Ubisoft’s advanced Snowdrop engine.

“Two decades later, we’re revisiting the narrative, characters, and overall story arc—making adjustments where certain elements haven’t aged gracefully,” explained Creative Director Chris Auty at the time. “However, the heart of the experience, the core storyline, will stay true to the original.”

In recent news, Ubisoft established a subsidiary company focusing on its major franchises—Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six. The endeavor is backed by a substantial €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

This corporate update followed Ubisoft’s announcement that Assassin's Creed Shadows had already surpassed 3 million players. The company faced a challenging period before the launch, marked by several high-profile flops, significant layoffs, studio shutdowns, and game cancellations. This has placed tremendous pressure on the new title to perform well, especially after Ubisoft’s stock price dropped to a historic low.
