Stellar Blade PC Release Date Confirmed For 2025
Stellar Blade Confirmed for PC Release in 2025 – But with a Catch?
Initially a PlayStation exclusive, Stellar Blade is making its way to PC in 2025! This article explores the confirmed release date and potential concerns surrounding the PC port.
PC Release Confirmed, PSN Linkage a Possibility?
Following hints earlier this year, developer SHIFT UP has officially announced a 2025 PC release for Stellar Blade. The decision is driven by the rising popularity of PC gaming and the success of titles like Black Myth: Wukong. While a specific date remains unannounced, SHIFT UP plans to maintain the game's momentum through ongoing marketing, including a November 20th collaboration DLC with NieR:Automata and the addition of Photo Mode.
However, a potential roadblock exists. As a Sony-published title and with SHIFT UP's second-party status with Sony, a PSN account link for Steam players is highly probable. This could exclude players in regions lacking PSN access from enjoying the PC version. Sony's stated reason for this practice—ensuring "safe" live-service game experiences—has raised concerns, especially regarding its application to single-player titles.
This joins a growing trend of PlayStation exclusives coming to PC, bringing titles like God of War Ragnarök and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to a wider audience. Yet, this trend also introduces the controversial PSN linking requirement.
The PSN Question Remains
Whether Stellar Blade will necessitate a PSN account for PC remains unclear. SHIFT UP’s IP ownership might offer a loophole, but mandatory PSN linking could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of surpassing console sales.
