Sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance Confirmed DRM-Free
Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), the anticipated medieval RPG, will launch entirely DRM-free. This directly contradicts previous rumors and speculation circulating among gamers.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: No DRM, Period.
Dismissing DRM Claims
Following player concerns about potential DRM integration, Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, emphatically clarified during a Twitch stream that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM, including Denuvo. He attributed the confusion to misinformation and urged players to cease inquiries on the topic. Stolz-Zwilling stated plainly that any information suggesting otherwise is inaccurate unless officially announced by Warhorse Studios.
"KCD 2 will not have Denuvo, or any DRM system at all," Stolz-Zwilling confirmed. "We never confirmed it. There was some misalignment, misinformation, but ultimately, there will be no Denuvo."
He further appealed to fans: "Please close this case. Stop asking about Denuvo under every post. Unless Warhorse announces it, anything else is untrue."
The absence of DRM is significant, given the performance concerns often associated with such tools. Denuvo, an anti-piracy measure, has faced considerable criticism for negatively impacting game performance and player experience. Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has acknowledged the negative perception, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith-in-training, in medieval Bohemia. Players who contributed at least $200 to the Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
