'Intergalactic' Composers Score Golden Globe Win
Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, the composers behind the soundtrack for Naughty Dog's upcoming title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, have added another accolade to their impressive list of achievements: a Golden Globe Award.
The duo won Best Original Score for their work on Luca Guadagnino's film Challengers. This follows the recent release of an Intergalactic trailer showcasing a preview of their composition, alongside some licensed tracks.
Reznor and Ross are renowned for their extensive collaboration, spanning their work with Nine Inch Nails and numerous award-winning film scores for directors such as David Fincher and Pete Docter. Their accolades include an Academy Award for Best Original Score for both The Social Network and Soul, multiple Grammys, an Emmy, and a BAFTA. Reznor also has previous experience composing for video games, notably the soundtrack for 1996's Quake and the main title theme for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
Accepting the Golden Globe from presenters Elton John and Brandi Carlile, Ross described the Challengers score as "never...a safe choice, but it always felt like the right one." The contemporary, club-influenced electronic score perfectly complements the film's edgy athleticism and sensuality. Given their current creative peak, Intergalactic's soundtrack is poised to be a standout.
Golden Globe Win Boosts Anticipation for Intergalactic
The unlikely pairing of Nine Inch Nails' industrial rock pioneers with the world of contemporary gaming and film has yielded consistently impressive results. From the haunting soundscapes of The Social Network to the ethereal beauty of Soul, Reznor and Ross demonstrate remarkable versatility. Their involvement with Intergalactic, particularly given online hints suggesting a horror element, seems perfectly aligned.
The Golden Globe win further amplifies the excitement surrounding Intergalactic, a potential departure for Naughty Dog. Given their spotless track record, the game's soundtrack promises to be a sonic masterpiece, regardless of the final product.
