FF7 Rebirth DLC Will Only Come If Fans Request It
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth PC Version: Director Discusses Mods and DLC Possibilities
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth's PC release is generating excitement, particularly regarding potential mods and DLC. Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently offered insights into the development team's decisions.
No Immediate DLC Plans, But Player Feedback Matters
While the team initially considered adding episodic DLC to the PC version, resource constraints prioritized completing the trilogy's final installment. Hamaguchi stated that adding new content is currently not on the agenda, but the team remains open to significant player demand. Substantial player requests for specific content could influence future decisions.
A Message to the Modding Community: Creativity with Responsibility
The PC version lacks official mod support, but Hamaguchi acknowledged the inevitable interest from the modding community. He encouraged creative modding but urged responsible behavior, requesting that modders refrain from creating or distributing offensive or inappropriate content.
The potential for player-created content, ranging from enhanced visuals to new gameplay elements, is significant, mirroring the impact of mods on other titles. However, the director rightly highlighted the need to maintain community standards.
PC Version Enhancements and Challenges
The PC release boasts graphical improvements, including enhanced lighting and higher-resolution textures, addressing previous criticisms about character models. These enhancements leverage the greater processing power available on PCs compared to the PS5.
However, the porting process presented challenges, particularly in adapting the game's mini-games to PC controls. Hamaguchi noted the complexity of implementing unique key configuration settings.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the second part of the Remake trilogy, launches on Steam and the Epic Games Store January 23, 2025. The PC version promises a visually enhanced and feature-rich experience, with the possibility of future DLC depending on player feedback.
