Dune: Awakening Patch 1.1.0.17 Overhauls Deep Desert Endgame
Funcom continues updating Dune: Awakening faster than news can keep pace. Shortly after introducing the Public Test Client and announcing plans to expand the Deep Desert PvE zone from 10% to 50%, the studio confirms these changes go live today, June 26.
"The PvE area now covers the entire southern half of the Deep Desert,"
Funcom states in its latest patch notes. "PvE-focused players can now access Imperial Testing Stations and caves without PvP engagement." The team emphasizes ongoing responsiveness to community input.
This follows an AMA addressing endgame dissatisfaction, where developers acknowledged plans to enhance Deep Desert PvP. Previously, players criticized toxic behaviors persisting even after removing Ornithopter griefing mechanics.
Balancing Risk and Reward
"We want PvE players to experience endgame content on their terms," explains Creative Director Joel Bylos. While maintaining the Deep Desert's core tension as a weekly-resetting danger zone, Control Points and Shipwrecks will remain PvP-enabled across the entire map.
Vehicle adjustments include:
- Scout Ornithopters with Rocket Launchers: 20% speed reduction
- Assault Ornithopters: 10% speed reduction
- Mid-air dismounts now drop vehicles vertically
