Get Your Pet
First things first, as soon as you dive into Diablo 4 Season 7, head to the nearest town with a Wardrobe and interact with it to get your pet. Pets don't participate in combat, but they're invaluable for automatically collecting your gold and materials. This significantly reduces the time you'd otherwise spend gathering these resources, allowing you to focus more on combat and loot.
Grab Your Mercenaries
If you own the Vessel of Hatred expansion, make your way to the Den to recruit a Mercenary. Solo players can have up to two Mercenaries, which simplifies leveling and combat. Additionally, building Rapport with them can unlock further rewards, enhancing your gameplay experience.
Follow the Seasonal Questline and Level Up
Start on Normal difficulty and follow the new seasonal questline in Diablo 4 Season 7, marked by green leaf icons on your map. This questline introduces you to the new mechanics of the season, including Headhunt zones, Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, and new Witch powers. While the questline isn't overly long, it includes a few puzzles and primarily involves farming Favors in Headhunt zones.
This approach not only acquaints you with the season's features but is also the most efficient way to reach level 60. Continuously defeat Headhunt zone bosses, collect Favors, and enhance your Witch powers simultaneously.
Unlock Your Class Power
A useful quality-of-life update is that you no longer need to complete class-specific priority quests if you've done so on a previous character. However, you must first log in with that character on the Eternal realm.
For example, if you're planning to play as a Rogue in Season 7, log in with a previously created Rogue who has already completed the priority quests. Then, when you log in with your new Season 7 Rogue, your class power will automatically unlock upon reaching the required level.
Headhunt Zones
While navigating Headhunt zones, make sure to engage in the Whispers. There are always four active zones, and you should target the smallest, most compact ones due to their higher enemy density. This allows for quicker mob farming and Whisper completion.
Prioritize these two Whisper quests:
- Fugitive: Involves recovering a head or destroying a husk, activated by defeating Elites and interacting with roots.
- Shepherd: An easier task requiring you to escort animals around the map.
Once you accumulate 10 Grim Favors, exchange them at the Tree of Whispers for a cache. Remember, a Raven of the Tree appears in each Headhunt zone, allowing you to turn in Favors without returning to the Tree of Whispers.
Witchcraft Powers
At the Tree of Whispers, use the Altars of Witchcraft to buy and upgrade your Witchcraft powers with Restless Rot, obtained from killing new Rot enemies. While the powers are affordable to purchase, upgrading them is costly. Focus on acquiring damage-boosting powers to enhance your passive damage output.
Some Witch powers are exclusive to Forgotten Altars, which you can encounter in regular dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons, Pits, and Rootholds once you reach Torment 1 difficulty. Consuming a Draught of Whispers can increase your chances of finding a Forgotten Altar.
Rootholds
Rootholds, a new dungeon type introduced in Season 7, are accessible by consuming a Whispering Wood, obtained from Whispers and Silent Chests. These dungeons operate like a rogue-lite mode, similar to Infernal Hordes, where you can activate negative modifiers that enhance loot quality. As you progress through a Roothold, open Exposed Roots for loot, with the modifiers influencing the quantity and quality of the roots you find.
It's advisable to save your Roothold keys until you reach Torment 1, as they offer the best source of Ancestral loot this season.
Occult Gems
Late in the game, you can craft Occult Gems by speaking with Gelena at the Tree of Whispers. These gems, which you slot into your jewelry, outperform regular gems but are expensive to craft, requiring substantial Restless Rot and Heads. Heads can drop from Roothold bosses and Fugitives in Headhunt zones, and using a Draught of Whispers increases your chances of obtaining them from bosses.
Pits, Infernal Hordes, and Nightmare Dungeons
Don't forget to incorporate Pits and Nightmare Dungeons into your routine. Nightmare Dungeons provide Glyphs, while Pits are essential for leveling them up. Additionally, farm Infernal Hordes for masterworking materials to power up your Uniques.
