Battledom is an upcoming strategy game now in Alpha testing
Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by the part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles Frenken's original vision for Herodom, a successful tower defense game.
Battledom introduces flexible RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the game map. Players directly target enemies and manually control siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations add another layer of depth to the gameplay.
Players earn coins to recruit units for their army. Initially, these units are equipped with only basic weapons and lack armor. However, players can customize their units by equipping them with various weapons and armor pieces. Each item impacts unit stats, including range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, they must be crafted within the player's village. Players gather resources like wood, leather, and coal to create items with the help of blacksmiths, magicians, and other village crafters.
Frenken is best known for Herodom, which boasts a 4.6 App Store rating. Herodom features over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new hairstyles, bodies, crops, and animals for the player's farm.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight. For the latest news and updates on Battledom, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit. Frenken's other games are available on the App Store.
