Alan Wake and Control Unite: Sequels Set to Expand Shared Universe
Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on its diverse game portfolio, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor. These updates, revealed in the company's latest financial report, offer insights into each project's development stage and Remedy's overall publishing strategy.
Control 2 Nears Completion
The highly anticipated Control 2 has reached a crucial milestone: production readiness. This signifies a fully playable version of the game, allowing the team to focus on large-scale production, including rigorous testing and performance optimization to ensure quality standards are met. Concurrently, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Active Development
Codename Condor, the Control universe's multiplayer spin-off, is in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and game modes, undergoing both internal and limited external playtesting for feedback and refinement. This marks Remedy's entry into live-service games, with a planned "service-based fixed price" release model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne Remake Progress
Following positive critical and fan reception for Alan Wake 2's Night Springs expansion, Remedy confirmed the game has largely recouped its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition is launching October 22nd, with a Collector's Edition following in December. Pre-orders are available on the official website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is currently refining a complete playable version, emphasizing unique gameplay features to differentiate the remake.
Future Focus on Control and Alan Wake Franchises
Remedy's future strategy centers on its owned franchises, Control and Alan Wake, interconnected within the Remedy Connected Universe. Following the acquisition of full rights to the Control franchise from 505 Games, Remedy is strategically evaluating self-publishing and potential partnerships for both series, promising further announcements by year's end.
The company emphasizes its commitment to growing these franchises, alongside its continued collaboration on the Max Payne franchise. Further updates on these projects and Remedy's publishing plans are anticipated throughout the year.
