Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They BioWare delivers both good and bad news for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The game will launch without Denuvo DRM, but PC players will miss out on pre-loading.

Veilguard: DRM-Free, But No PC Preload

A Trust-Based Approach, No Preload for PC

Michael Gamble, Dragon Age: The Veilguard's project director, announced on Twitter (X) that the PC version will be Denuvo-free. This anti-piracy software, while popular with publishers like EA, often impacts performance and player experience. The decision has been met with positive feedback from gamers.

The absence of Denuvo also means no always-online requirement, confirming earlier statements by Gamble. However, this comes at the cost of eliminating the PC preload option. This is a significant drawback considering the game's substantial 100GB size. Console players, however, can still preload. Xbox early access players can install now; PlayStation early access begins October 29th.

Veilguard Has No Denuvo DRM Because They BioWare also unveiled the system requirements. High-end PCs can utilize ray tracing and uncapped frame rates. Minimum specs prioritize accessibility. Consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X|S) offer fidelity and performance modes targeting 30 and 60 FPS, respectively. To fully enable ray tracing on PC, you'll need at least an Intel Core i9 9900K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X CPU, 16GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon 6800XT GPU.
