Starbrand, a 3-cost, 10-power card, has an Ongoing ability: “Your opponent gains +3 Power at each other location.”
Unlike Mister Fantastic, which boosts adjacent locations, Starbrand enhances all other locations. Decks with Starbrand often use cards like Zero, Sauron, or Enchantress to counter its effect.
Starbrand is vulnerable to Shang-Chi but synergizes well with Surtur. Its 3-cost slot makes it tricky to fit into decks, as players may prefer Surtur or Sauron.
Best Initial Starbrand Decks in Marvel Snap
Starbrand slots seamlessly into Shuri Sauron and Surtur decks. Though Shuri Sauron has faded from the meta, Starbrand might breathe new life into it. Here’s a look at a revitalized build:
Zabu Zero Armor Lizard Sauron Starbrand Shuri Ares Enchantress Typhoid Mary Red Skull Taskmaster

This budget-friendly deck includes only Ares as a Series 5 card, though Vision can replace him. Zabu’s ability makes this deck slightly stronger than one reliant on move cards.
If you’re familiar with Marvel Snap, this deck’s strategy is clear: neutralize Ongoing drawbacks with Zero, Sauron, or Enchantress, amplify a lane with Shuri into Red Skull, and secure another with Taskmaster’s power copy.
Previously, Ebony Maw replaced Zabu, but Taskmaster’s 6-cost nerf complicates final-turn plays. Zabu enables Shuri alongside Starbrand or Ares for surprise power bursts late in the game.
With Shuri boosting Starbrand, the +3 power to opponent locations is less impactful. Enchantress can negate Starbrand’s effect while disrupting opponent Ongoing cards.

Despite Aero and Skaar nerfs, Surtur decks remain a strong fit for Starbrand. Here’s a sample build:
Zabu Zero Armor Sam Wilson Captain America Cosmo Surtur Starbrand Ares Attuma Crossbones Cull Obsidian SkaarClick here to copy this list from Untapped.
This costly deck features four Series 5 cards. Sam Wilson and Cull Obsidian work together, while Surtur and Ares drive its high performance.
Starbrand enables Skaar to hit 1 cost by turn 5 when paired with Ares, Attuma, or Crossbones. Zero mitigates Starbrand and Attuma’s downsides, and even without perfect Zero timing, it’s a solid final-turn play. Crossbones, Cull Obsidian, and Skaar function independently, but avoid negating Surtur or Ares with Zero.
Timing Starbrand is key. Play Surtur first, saving Starbrand for the final turn with Zero and Skaar, though this isn’t always feasible. Mastering this deck requires practice.
Is Starbrand Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?
Starbrand’s value is uncertain with recent meta shifts from Agamotto and Eson. Shuri Sauron may struggle to compete, and Surtur decks face challenges post-Aero and Skaar nerfs. Wait a few days to assess Starbrand’s place in the meta before investing resources.
