Take-Two CEO Bullish on Nintendo Switch 2
With less than four weeks until the Nintendo Switch 2 hits the market amidst swirling speculation about pricing and logistics, one major third-party publisher is expressing unwavering confidence: Take-Two Interactive.
During today's investor Q&A following their annual earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick responded to questions about their commitment to Nintendo's upcoming console with notable enthusiasm. His optimism stems from what he describes as Nintendo's improved approach to third-party partnerships compared to previous hardware launches:
"We're debuting four major titles alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 launch - a stronger lineup than we've ever deployed for a new Nintendo system. While third-party publishing on Nintendo platforms historically presented challenges, we've observed meaningful progress in their approach. Our expanded commitment reflects genuine excitement about this platform. That said, we evaluate each game individually - we go where our players are - which doesn't always mean bringing every release to every system. The potential for catalog titles also looks promising."
Take-Two's confirmed Switch 2 lineup includes day-one release Civilization 7 (June 5), along with unspecified NBA 2K and WWE 2K franchise entries and the September 12 launch of Borderlands 4. While these announcements aren't shocking given Take-Two's existing Switch catalog, Zelnick's remarks hint at possible future additions - potentially including catalog titles. While GTA 6 remains unlikely, the door appears open for potential ports like GTA V down the line.
In our exclusive pre-call interview with Zelnick, we discussed both the company's financial quarter and the delayed GTA 6 timeline, including the CEO's perspective on the recent decision to push the blockbuster title's release into next year.
