Nightdive Studios, renowned for their work on the System Shock franchise (including the 2013 System Shock 2 remaster and the recent System Shock remake), initially planned a simultaneous launch with the System Shock remake. Development delays, however, necessitated a revised release schedule.
The 2023 System Shock remake garnered significant praise, achieving a Metacritic score of 78/100, a user score of 7.6/10, and a 91% positive rating on Steam. With the System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster now on the verge of release, the wait for this enhanced version is almost over.
