Supercell Seeks Talent for Clash of Clans Film and TV Projects
Could Clash of Clans, or another major Supercell property, be coming to the big screen? It's more likely than you might think. The Finnish mobile developer has recently started seeking a senior film and TV development executive, hinting at a potential move into movies, similar to what Rovio did with Angry Birds back in 2016.
However, as noted by our sibling site PocketGamer.biz, the job description isn't about immediately starting film projects. Instead, it focuses on developing a strategy for live-action and animated films, as well as handling theatrical and streaming distribution. In business terms, this suggests a more strategic, watch-and-wait approach. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if Supercell is already sketching out initial plans for a cinematic venture.
Clash for the agesSupercell has been breaking new ground with their catalogue, venturing into crossovers and collaborations, such as with the WWE. This trend makes a move into film and animation seem like a natural progression for the developer.
Even though a significant amount of time has passed since Clash of Clans was first released, it's worth remembering that the highly successful Angry Birds movie came out about seven years after the game's debut. Clash of Clans still boasts a dedicated audience, and Supercell's newer IPs, like Mo.co, could be ripe for adaptation into family-friendly films.
We'll have to wait and see how this unfolds. In the meantime, why not explore our list of the top five new mobile games to try this week?
