Star Wars: Hunters Shuts Down Before First Anniversary
Star Wars: Hunters, despite its brief tenure, has announced its shutdown before reaching its first anniversary. However, the game will still celebrate this milestone before closing its doors for good. The question remains: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey after just nine months since its launch. Players have a few extra weeks to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, both the developer and publisher, is set to release a final content update on April 15th, introducing the last new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
The closure of Star Wars: Hunters may not come as a surprise to many. The game, announced in 2020, faced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions only. A delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a lukewarm reception contributed to its downfall. From a design perspective, the game missed a golden opportunity. Despite the rich universe of Star Wars filled with iconic characters, the developers opted for generic original characters, which may have disappointed fans expecting to see their favorite galactic legends.
If you've uninstalled the game but are considering one last playthrough, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
