Smite 2 Free-to-Play Launch Date Announced Alongside New Character
Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14, 2025 Brings Aladdin and More!
Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, promising a refreshed experience for both veteran and new players.
This launch isn't just about access; it's about content. Aladdin, the first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, makes his debut, joining an expanding roster that will eventually include nearly 50 Gods by the end of January 2025. Returning favorites from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, will also be present, boasting updated abilities.
Beyond new Gods, Smite 2's open beta introduces exciting new features:
- New Game Modes: Experience the thrill of 3v3 Joust, set in an Arthurian-themed arena with teleporters and stealth grass, and the 1v1 Duel mode, both utilizing the same map.
- Aspects System: This innovative system lets players sacrifice a God's ability for a powerful bonus. For example, Athena might lose her ally-shielding teleport but gain a foe-weakening one. Twenty Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Expect enhanced gameplay with Role Guides for newcomers, improved in-game messaging, PC text chat, refined item stores, and detailed death recaps.
The open beta will feature 20 of Smite 2's eventual 45 dynamic Gods. The game's first esports tournament finale will also take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19.
Smite 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Mark your calendars for January 14th and prepare for battle!
