Housemarque's next title, Saros, is set to launch in 2026 exclusively for PlayStation 5 and its enhanced PS5 Pro counterpart. This roguelite shooter, starring Rahul Kohli, was unveiled during the recent PlayStation State of Play.

The game, featuring Arjun Devraj, a Solatri enforcer investigating a perilous, ever-changing planet shadowed by an eclipse and a formidable entity, strongly echoes the style of Housemarque's previous hit, Returnal. The emphasis on "coming back stronger" and the fiery, bullet-hell action sequences are clear hallmarks of the developer's signature style.

PlayCreative director Gregory Louden describes Saros as the pinnacle of Housemarque's gameplay-focused design philosophy. While a new single-player IP, it builds upon the third-person action established in Returnal.

However, significant gameplay differences exist. According to Louden's PlayStation Blog post, Saros introduces persistent resources and progression. While the game world dynamically shifts upon player death, players retain and upgrade their weapons and suits permanently.

Further details, including an extended gameplay showcase, are anticipated later this year. For a complete overview of the PlayStation State of Play announcements, consult our comprehensive recap.
