Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51
Resident Evil's Mikami and Killer7's Suda51 Hint at a Possible Sequel and Remaster
The possibility of a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition has been teased by Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil creator) and Goichi "Suda51" Suda during a recent Grasshopper Direct presentation. The event primarily showcased the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, but the conversation shifted to the cult classic Killer7.
Mikami openly expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling it a personal favorite. Suda51, mirroring this enthusiasm, suggested the possibility of a sequel, playfully tossing around title ideas like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, follows Harman Smith and his seven distinct personalities. While it gained a devoted following, a sequel remained elusive. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced interest in revisiting his original vision, suggesting a "Complete Edition" to restore cut content, particularly extensive dialogue for the character Coyote. Mikami, while playfully dismissing the Complete Edition as "lame," acknowledged its potential appeal to fans.
The discussion concluded with Suda51 highlighting the choice between prioritizing a "Killer7: Beyond" sequel or the Complete Edition. The developers' shared enthusiasm, though lacking concrete details, has reignited fan excitement for the future of this unique title.
