Recruit All Avowed Companions: Guide
Embarking on the treacherous journey through the Living Lands in *Avowed* is a challenge, but you won't face it alone. With four unique Companions at your side, each bringing their own personalities and upgradable abilities, your adventure across Eora is set to be both thrilling and rewarding. Here's a detailed look at every Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*.
Kai
Kai is among the first Companions you'll encounter in *Avowed*. Although you can meet two characters during the tutorial level, Kai is the first proper Companion to join your party. You'll find him early in the game at the port of Dawnshore near Paradis. Kai will approach you on the dock, and together, you'll set out to find the Ambassador and the Cleric. He'll stay in your party until you recruit three Companions, at which point you can swap him out at a Party Camp.
In *Avowed*, Kai is a formidable ex-mercenary with a softer side. In combat, he acts as a tank, capable of both sustaining and dealing significant damage. His fire abilities are particularly useful for clearing obstructions like cobwebs and roots, helping you uncover hidden pathways and valuable loot.
Kai's upgradable abilities include:
- Fire and Ire, Active: Kai fires a powerful shot from his blunderbuss, dealing high stun to a single enemy and taunting them for 10 seconds.
- Unbending Defense, Active: Kai regenerates his health and increases his damage reduction by 25%.
- Leap of Daring, Active: Kai leaps onto enemies, stunning and taunting all nearby foes.
- Second Win, Passive: When Kai's health reaches zero, he revives himself, restoring 50% of his maximum health.
Marius
Marius is the second Companion you'll meet in *Avowed*, also found in Dawnshore. He shares a history with Kai, and you'll encounter him in a bar. Depending on your choice, you can either talk your way out of a situation or help him fight off some NPCs.
Marius is an adept hunter and tracker, which influences his personality, narrative, and gameplay. His Hunter Sense ability aids in locating loot and crafting materials across the Living Lands. In combat, Marius uses his bow and arrow along with daggers and can manipulate nature to trap enemies with Roots.
Marius's upgradable abilities include:
- Binding Roots, Active: Marius roots an enemy in place for 8 seconds.
- Heart Seeker, Active: Marius fires a piercing shot that always hits its target and passes through obstacles.
- Shadow Step, Active: Marius vanishes into smoke, reappearing to slash enemies with his daggers up to three times.
- Wounding Shots, Passive: Marius's attacks cause bleeding.
Giatta
Giatta is the third Companion you'll recruit in *Avowed*, encountered later in the main quest at the Fior settlement in the Emerald Stair Region. As an animancer, she practices a controversial form of magic within the Living Lands.
Giatta's powers are crucial for unraveling the spiritual mysteries in *Avowed*'s Main Quest. In combat, she serves as a support, healing, shielding, and buffing allies. Her unique ability, Spectral Jolt, powers Essence Generators, opening new pathways and revealing hidden loot during exploration.
Giatta's upgradable abilities include:
- Purification, Active: Giatta heals all allies by 25% of their maximum health.
- Barrier, Active: Giatta provides temporary health to all allies for 20 seconds.
- Acceleration, Active: Giatta boosts the move and attack speed of all allies for 15 seconds.
- Reconstruction, Passive: Giatta's attacks heal allies slightly.
Yatzli
Yatzli is the fourth and final Companion you can recruit in *Avowed*. You'll meet her during a main quest in the Shatterscarp region within Thirdborn city, though you might encounter her earlier in the world.
Like Giatta, Yatzli is a magic user but focuses on dealing damage. Her spells are potent, capable of targeting single enemies or controlling crowds effectively. Yatzli's magic also helps clear obstacles, making her invaluable for exploring the Living Lands.
Yatzli's upgradable abilities include:
- Essence Explosion, Active: Yatzli's arcane power explodes on contact, releasing Essence and causing explosive damage.
- Minoletta’s Missile Battery, Active: Yatzli launches a volley of arcane missiles that seek out nearby enemies.
- Arduos Delay of Motion, Active: Yatzli slows an enemy for 10 seconds using arcane energy.
- Blast, Passive: Yatzli's attacks create a small area of effect upon hitting an enemy.
These are all the Companions you can recruit in *Avowed*, each bringing unique strengths and abilities to your party as you explore the Living Lands.
*Avowed is available now on PC and Xbox.*
