Pokémon Go players find love in Madrid as proposals flood Go Fest
Pokémon Go Fest Madrid: A resounding success, not just for player turnout, but for love! The event saw five couples publicly propose, with all five receiving a resounding "Yes!"
We fondly recall Pokémon Go's initial launch and the excitement of exploring our neighborhoods in search of Pokémon. While not the global sensation it once was, Pokémon Go maintains a dedicated player base of millions.
These passionate fans flocked to the recent Pokémon Go Fest in Madrid, Spain (previously covered), exploring the city, hunting rare Pokémon, connecting with fellow players, and celebrating the game. However, for some attendees, the air was filled not just with Poké Balls, but with romance.
Pokémon Go Fest Madrid became an unexpected backdrop for proposals. At least five couples captured their proposals on camera, all resulting in joyful engagements.
Madrid's Magical Moment Martina, who proposed to Shaun, shared, "It was the perfect moment. After eight years, including six of long-distance, we've finally settled together. This is the ideal way to celebrate our new life."
Held earlier this month, Pokémon Go Fest Madrid was a massive success, attracting over 190,000 attendees. While smaller than some sporting events, this is still a significant turnout.
Niantic's special proposal package suggests many more proposals likely occurred off-camera. Nevertheless, the event highlights the role Pokémon Go has played in bringing couples together.
