Next Pokémon Event: Switch 2 No-Show Expected

Don't expect any Switch 2 Pokemon game announcements at the upcoming Pokemon Presents on February 27th. While leaks suggest an imminent Switch 2 reveal, Pokemon titles will reportedly remain exclusive to the original Switch console for the time being. The February 27th presentation will likely focus on Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Nintendo hasn't officially unveiled the Switch 2, but its existence and backward compatibility have been confirmed. Leaks paint a picture of a more powerful, larger Switch iteration.

While future Pokemon games are destined for the Switch 2, the next Pokemon Presents will seemingly showcase titles developed for the original Switch, leveraging backward compatibility on the new hardware. This information comes from industry insider Jeff Grubb.

No Switch 2 Pokemon News Expected

The Pokemon Presents will likely feature updates on ongoing live-service titles like Pokemon GO and Pokemon Trading Card Game Live. Significant attention is expected to be given to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, slated for release on the original Switch this year. While a teaser revealed Lumiose City, returning Pokemon, and Mega Evolutions, details remain scarce. Rumors also hint at another mainline Pokemon game in 2024.

A potential new mainline Pokemon game, separate from Legends: Z-A and Generation 10, is rumored for this year. Speculation points towards Pokemon Black and White remakes or a new Let's Go title, both supposedly launching on the original Switch. This suggests Generation 10 games might be the first major Pokemon titles exclusive to the Switch 2.

The Pokemon franchise has a history of prioritizing established hardware platforms. Similar to Pokemon Black 2 and White 2's release on the original DS instead of the 3DS, history might repeat itself. However, until official confirmation, fans should tune into the February 27th Pokemon Presents for definitive news.
