Nintendo Denies Rumors of Genki-Powered Switch 2 Showcase
Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following recent claims by American accessory maker Genki, Nintendo has officially refuted rumors surrounding a purported Nintendo Switch 2 reveal at CES 2025. Genki showcased a 3D-printed mockup of the console and reportedly shared details about a release date with journalists.
In statements to CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper, Nintendo explicitly stated that the images and videos presented by Genki are not official. They further clarified that Genki did not receive any Switch 2 hardware from Nintendo.
Genki, known for its range of gaming accessories including controllers and SSDs, even features a dedicated Nintendo Switch 2 accessories page on its website with an animated mockup. This proactive marketing strategy, however, stands in contrast to Nintendo's official silence on concrete Switch 2 details.
While Nintendo has yet to make a major announcement, they have confirmed the Switch 2's backward compatibility with existing Switch games. The company's denial of Genki's claims suggests an official announcement regarding the console's specifications and release date may be imminent.
