Nexon Announces The Global Shutdown Of KartRider: Drift

Nexon has announced the global shutdown of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC racing game launched in January 2023. This closure affects all global platforms, but notably excludes the Asian servers in Taiwan and South Korea.

Asian Servers Remain

The Asian versions will continue operation, although Nexon plans unspecified updates and improvements. There's currently no information on potential future global relaunches.

Shutdown Timing Uncertain

Nexon hasn't revealed a precise shutdown date for the global version, though the game remains available on the Google Play Store. Players wishing to experience the game before its closure later this year should do so soon.

Reasons for Shutdown

Despite efforts to provide a smooth global experience, KartRider: Drift faced significant challenges. Player feedback cited excessive automation, leading to repetitive gameplay, alongside technical issues such as poor optimization on some Android devices and numerous bugs. These factors contributed to the decision to cease global operations and refocus development on the Asian PC versions. Nexon aims to revitalize the game's original vision within those regions.
