Neil Druckmann: No Plans for The Last of Us Part 3
If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential *Part 3* from Naughty Dog, I'm afraid I have some disappointing news to share. Series creator Neil Druckmann has recently dampened any hopes that a *Part 3* is in development or might be on the horizon in the future.
In a detailed interview with Variety, primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, Druckmann was asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was quite definitive:
“I was waiting for this question,” he remarked with a sigh. “I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
The question now is whether to take Druckmann's words at face value. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply engaged in developing *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window yet set, this project is likely years away from completion, leaving little room for *The Last of Us Part 3* in the near future. It's possible that Druckmann is being elusive, or perhaps he's simply not ready to make any commitments. Time may alter his stance, or it might solidify his current position. Only time will tell!
For those still yearning for more *The Last of Us*, the television series offers a glimmer of hope, with its second season set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to fully adapt *Part 2*, an HBO executive hinted in February that four seasons might be the ideal length to tell the complete story.
