According to SteamDB, MH Wilds achieved an all-time peak of 1,384,608 concurrent players at the time of writing. This number eclipses the records set by its predecessors, with MH World reaching an all-time peak of 334,684 players, and MH Rise peaking at 231,360. However, MH Wilds currently holds a Mixed review status on its Steam page, with only 57% of its 54,669 reviews being positive. The bulk of the negative feedback focuses on the game's suboptimal PC optimization and performance issues.

Capcom Responds To PC Performance Issues

In response to the negative reviews highlighting MH Wilds’ poor PC performance, Capcom has taken steps to address these concerns. On February 28, 2025, Monster Hunter's official support account, Monster Hunter Status, issued a statement on Twitter (X) to tackle the numerous issues players were experiencing.

The statement directed players to the MH Wilds support website, which features a comprehensive FAQ addressing common concerns. Capcom's suggested solutions include updating video/graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of the video driver set, among others.

Game-breaking Bug Blocking Story Progress

A significant game-breaking bug is currently preventing story progression for players. A crucial NPC is missing from their designated location, causing a halt in player progress during Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on Twitter (X) on March 2, 2025, and confirmed they are actively working on a fix.

Additional issues have surfaced, such as the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking despite meeting the required criteria, alongside problems with accessing the Smithy. The developers have responded promptly, releasing hotfixes and updates across various consoles and platforms to address these concerns.

Character Editing Locked Behind Microtransactions

MH Wilds introduces microtransactions for character customization, requiring players to purchase vouchers to modify their characters' and Palicos' appearances. The Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack allows three edits for $6.00 and is available on all digital storefronts.

Players can still alter aspects like hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing without additional cost, but other modifications necessitate the purchase of the voucher. Similarly, editing a Palico requires a separate voucher pack. For a more comprehensive solution, a $10 voucher pack offers three edits for both characters and Palicos.
