Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 DRM or Denuvo Requirements?

Saber Interactive, the developer of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, recently published an FAQ outlining key features players can look forward to. With the game set to release on September 9, the studio has confirmed that Denuvo or other DRM solutions will not be included in this upcoming hack-and-slash shooter.

DRM, or digital rights management, is commonly utilized to combat piracy and secure a game’s executable. However, its reception among gamers has been mixed, with many contending that such tools can degrade in-game performance. Notable cases where DRM caused issues include Capcom’s integration of Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, which reportedly hindered compatibility with Steam Deck and disrupted mod support.

Although Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 won’t incorporate DRM, Saber Interactive confirmed that the PC version will deploy Easy Anti-Cheat at launch. Earlier this year, Easy Anti-Cheat came under scrutiny from the Apex Legends community when it was linked to a hacking episode during the ALGS 2024 tournament in March.

Additionally, the developer mentioned that full mod support is not currently planned, which may disappoint some fans. Still, the game offers a variety of engaging modes, such as a competitive PvP arena, a cooperative horde mode, and an advanced photo mode. Saber Interactive also guarantees that all core gameplay content in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is freely accessible, with microtransactions and paid DLC restricted exclusively to cosmetic upgrades.
